The Proposal
Picture this, Christmas Day 2006. We just got back from Midnight Mass and decided to open our Christmas presents early. A chill filled the house so I asked if we could be in my room, but Matt insisted to sit by the tree and enjoy the holiday ambiance.
I watched him open up his presents, enjoying each one. He turned and gave my gifts, lots of goodies that I adored. Looking up and thanking him for everything, he said he had one more surprise. He told me to close my eyes, and so I did... and when I opened them, he was kneeling next to the Christmas tree with the box opened wide.
Matt said, "Erlinda J**** V****, Will you be my wife?"
I yelped out: "YES!!!"
Then when he was pulling the ring out and putting on my hand he asked if I would marry him, and my response:
"OF COURSE!!!"
We embraced and it was perfect.
I found out later he had to ask twice because he didn't realize he already did.
